Northerlies

Despite the early south winds last night, this morning brought a clear northwest wind which cut off any early morning flight.  If you average all of the south wind mornings we have had this season, the total mean of birds overhead is 8,205 individuals.  This morning’s north wind brought 469 birds.  Our north wind average is 429 birds.  Simple math says that south winds bring 16x the flight as north winds.

For a good quiz question, what are the top 10 species seen at the tower this season?  This will likely change through the season, as new species, such as Blue Jays and American Goldfinch get going, but for now what do you think?
