Wrapping up the first week.

Recent northerly winds have made the past few days quite unfavorable for spring migrants.  Today’s more easterly winds made today the first day with any decent migration movements in a few days.  The most numerous species during today’s count was the Ring-billed Gull, with 653 total.  37 Herring Gulls, and 2 Thayer’s Gulls (Thayer’s currently considered to be a subspecies of Iceland Gull) also contributed to today’s total gull count.  Only one Sandhill Crane was seen today, pretty early on in the morning too, and it flew right next to the tower.

The other highlights from today include: White-winged Scoter, Black Scoter, and 6 Common Redpolls. The complete list is here… https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S43536477
