Today, a minimum of 75 species of birds, and 7,936 individual birds were counted.  Easily the best sighting of the day was a flock of about 40 American Golden-Plovers that flew east, south of the tower.  This was the first time since 2015 that this species has been found at this site. Another great flight happened today with 8,041 individual birds counted, and 76 species identified.  Two days in a row now, there has been a good raptor flight.  84 raptors among 12 different species were counted today.  They were: 42 Turkey Vultures, 4 Osprey, 8 Northern Harriers, 6 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 5 Cooper's Hawks, 2 Bald Eagles, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 2 Broad-winged Hawks (new species … Continue reading 5 more species for this season’s list.
